      Newark Airport Disaster Drill

      NJ Wing Members,

      We have been called upon once again by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to help out in Newark Airport's Disaster Drill for 2011. Every year the airport holds a large scale disaster drill as a training exercise for numerous fire departments, paramedics, law enforcement departments, airport operations, etc to put their skills to the test. CAP is typically called upon for this event to serve as victims for a simulated aircraft accident. Seniors & cadets will have makeup (moulage) applied to them to simulate being involved in an aircraft accident. First responders will then have to triage the members as they see appropriate utilizing their skills.

      Date, Time, & Location

      This year's event will take place on Saturday the 15th of October at the Newark International Airport in Newark, NJ.

      Participants should meet no later than 0730 at Newark Airport, Building 79 on Brewster Road. (Northeast corner of the airport just west of NJ Turnpike). Carpooling is highly recommended.

      There will be a briefing conducted by the Port Authority, so it is imperative that you arrive in a timely fashion. The exercise should conclude by 12PM. Please note that this time may change depending on the progression of the drill.

      Required Documentation - All Participants

      All participants (cadet & senior) please complete and bring the following documentation with you to the event:

      A) Valid/Unexpired CAP ID Card

      B) CAP Form 31

      • With a parent or legal guardian's signature for cadet participants

      • With squadron commander's signature for all participants (cadet & senior). Your squadron commander is responsible for ensuring you are current in safety education. Their signature of the CAP Form 31 will constitute their affirmation of you being complaint with safety education currency.

      C) CAP Form 60

      • Please complete both halves and do not separate the two halves of the page

      D) Eventbrite Ticket


      Participants are required to wear old clothing they do not mind getting ripped or dirty, as the moulage artists will be tearing and marking up clothes to simulate injuries.


      Please note that all safety requirements must be current and complete in order to attend this event.

      Adult supervision will be present at all times.

      Food, water, and rain gear will be provided by the Port Authority.
