      Course Description:

      The scope of legal research resources available to attorneys has evolved dramatically in recent times. In tackling a legal issue, attorneys now have the opportunity to pick from a wealth of tools that optimally fit thei particularl situation. This program will explore these choices and illustrate how to practically, efficiently and cost effectively integrate these tools into a research project. Eric T. Gilson, Esq., who has lectured on a variety of research related topics in the law school setting, including advanced legal research, will guide attendees through the best and most practical usage of these research options. The topics covered will include: Understanding the evolution, expansion and formats of online tools in this new legal research environment - Formulating a quality legal research plan and tracking your efforts - Essential considerations when evaluating sources - Optimal techniques for blending print, database and Internet materials into a research project - Maximizing sources for cost savings - Hypotheticals to illustrate why and how the recommended techniquest work well in practice. 

      Presenter: 

      Eric T. Gilson, Esq. has presented on a host of legal research technology topics on the national level. He has presented at Harvard Law School on the integration of mobile technology in the law school setting. He has also lectured in the law school setting on a variety of legal research topics including advanced legal research coverage. 

       

      This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 3 hours of total CLE Credit, 0 qualify as hours of credit for ethics/professionalism, and 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in civil trial law, criminal trial law, workers compensation law, municipal court law, and/or matrimonial law.
