      Description

For over 85 years, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre has had a grand tradition of housing some of Broadway's most beloved theatrical productions. Many of those scheduled productions have won Tonys, been acclaimed by critics, and been supported for years by loyal audiences. Its lavish interior and old world feel encapsulate the atmosphere that all Broadway theaters exude, and has become a beloved landmark. The theater's production schedule is currently full with the recent Tony Award-winning musical, The Book of Mormon.

The building's construction was commissioned by the Shubert brothers and was originally named for America's first stage star, Edwin Forrest. It opened in 1925 and experienced great success in 1934 when it scheduled Tobacco Road, which became so popular that it ran for eight years. In 1959, the building became the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, named after the famous playwright who wrote such classics as The Iceman Cometh. Beginning in the late 60s, the theater became well known for hosting plays by playwright Neil Simon, including Last of the Red Hot Lovers, California Suite, and I Ought to Be in Pictures.

The Book of Mormon is the latest hit to grace the Eugene O'Neill Theatre's stage, and this juggernaut has no plans of leaving the theatre's schedule anytime soon. Keep checking the show schedule for performance times, and to see what the next hit production will be at this historic venue.
