Knock Down the House screening & talk

Join us for a free screening of Knock Down the House, a documentary directed by Rachel Lears that follows the incredible stories of four women who decide to run for office against all odds—New York's own Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Nevada's Amy Vilela, Missouri's Cori Bush, and West Virginia's Paula Jean Swearengin.  After the screening, stay for a short discussion on Ocasio-Cortez's campaign with some of the people who worked on it. About Knock Down the House: Winner of the Audience Award: U.S. Documentary and the Festival Favorite Award at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The day after Donald Trump's election, Rachel Lears began working on her new documentary film. She reached out to organizations such as Brand New Congress and Justice Democrats to find "charismatic female candidates who weren't career politicians, but had become newly galvanized to represent their communities."  The search led her to four female candidates: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Amy Vilela of Nevada, Cori Bush of Missouri, and Paula Jean Swearengin of West Virginia. Knock Down the House joins these extraordinary women on the campaign trail as they mobilize their bases, engage voters, and build a movement during a time of historic volatility in American politics.  Watch the trailer at knockdownthehouse.com
